"We are excited to supply our family-farmed fruits to one of the most respected companies for baby food - Earth's Best. It's a great partnership that helps establish an early foundation of healthy habits for the next generation," says Roger Pepperl, Stemilt marketing director.
The Mathison family began farming over a century ago on their hilltop homestead overlooking the Columbia River. But in 1964, with the help of some neighboring growers, Tom Mathison established the Stemilt Growers we know today. For decades, the Mathison family has continued to develop their family-owned farms by adding packaging plants, storage facilities, orchard operations and marketing partnerships. But they always wanted to do more for the earth. In 1989, the Mathison's began promoting sustainable agriculture practices through the Responsible Choice program. Today, with 2,000 acres of land dedicated to organic farming, Stemilt Growers is one of the largest organic growers in Washington state.

High-elevations offer ideal growing conditions for fruit trees. Setmilt Growers use recycling and composting to conserve water and prevent soil erosion. Each year the company prevents 160 truckloads of waste from the landfills.
