One of our favorite brands: Earth’s Best. Started in Vermont, Earth’s Best was sold in 1996 to Heinz, one of the baby food giants. Heinz couldn’t figure out what to do with the company and decided to sell it to natural foods conglomerate Hain Celestial (parent of Celestial Tea). Despite all the changes in ownership, Earth’s Best still has the largest line of “natural” baby foods on the market—all vegetables and grains are certified to be organically grown (no pesticides are used), and meats are raised without antibiotics or steroids.
